Headboard with Integrated LED Lighting

For this project, the client wanted a custom headboard that would sit neatly between two IKEA wardrobes, creating a warm and seamless focal point in the bedroom. Their main request was to incorporate LED lighting along the top edge, diffused behind a plexiglass cover to create a soft, ambient glow.
I worked closely with the client to determine the size, proportions, and overall look of the piece. Together, we chose American white oak–veneered birch plywood for its clean grain pattern and warm tone. The headboard was finished with Osmo White, which keeps the wood feeling light and modern while still allowing the natural texture to show through.
The LED lighting is fully integrated into the top section of the headboard, with all wiring concealed for a clean, minimal appearance. The plexiglass cover softens the light and adds a subtle design detail without overpowering the rest of the room.
The final result is a custom-built headboard that fits perfectly between the wardrobes, blends seamlessly with the surrounding space, and provides gentle ambient lighting for evenings and reading.
